Floorboards are considered a low maintenance floor covering. That doesn’t mean they don’t need a regular clean though.
Use a broom to sweep high-traffic areas every few days. It’s a lot easier than getting the vacuum out and there are new brooms, like the Vileda DuActiva, that have electrostatic foam as well as bristles to collect dust without raising it into the air.
Before washing boards always vacuum the floor using the brush setting. There’s no point cleaning without vacuuming, as you'll simply end up spreading and smearing dust as you clean.
For mopping floorboards, we recommend the Vileda UltraMax, which features a flat microfibre mop head that is machine washable.
There are several brands and varieties of floor cleaner on the market, each one promising you a sparkling floor. Just remember that less is more on timber and use only a damp mop – not saturated. The UltraMax comes with a bucket system that wrings water out to keep hands clean and dry.
