Dust and tiny bugs love televisions and stereo systems. Sadly entertainment equipment doesn’t love dust and bugs.
Equipment like this costs a lot of money, so look after it by regularly dusting the top and back of any electrical items. The dust loves to hide on the surfaces you can’t see so an electrostatic duster is useful for squeezing into small spaces. For everything else, use a lint-free microfibre cloth for effective dusting.
Every three months, gently ease out your equipment from its cabinet and give all surfaces a really good clean with a cloth dampened with methylated spirits. This will remove smearing and greasy marks.
For TV and plasma screens, use a solution of 1 part methylated spirits to 4 parts water or a glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth. Never spray anything directly onto the screen.
